Built around the pump house and maturation quarters of a prawn farm on the Matikulu River lagoon,The Hatchery wears its individuality and improvisation with a surprisingly creative dash of seaside style.
The accommodation for 32 guests in eight air-conditioned units is as close as you can get to the water's edge on the Zululand coast and with its rural setting and deserted beaches offers a truly unique getaway.
All units have their own bathroom (showers only) but the kitchen is well-equipped and communal.
Those not wanting to self-cater or barbecue can take a short walk to enjoy the feast offered by the Prawn Shack.
Rates:
Vary from R500 per night for a three-sleeper to R800 for a six-sleeper.
